Potioner's Trove

Artifact3 generic mana

Any-color mana for a single tap has been a commodity rate since the earliest artifact fixers, and a rock that only did that would be a bare mana floor, nothing more. The second line is the wrinkle: a lifegain valve locked behind having already cast an instant or sorcery this turn. That condition is the whole point. The two life never comes free; you unlock it by doing the thing a spells-matter deck was going to do anyway, which turns the gain into a reward for executing a plan rather than a baseline any list can lean on. Because the ability polls your turn (have you slung a spell yet?), it stays dead when you hold up interaction and never fire, so the payoff tracks tempo instead of durdling: cast to get paid, sit back and get nothing. It reads the deck it's in. Put it in a controlling spellslinger shell and it moonlights as a slow life engine; put it anywhere else and it reverts to plain color-fixing whose bonus you'll never switch on. The design walks a narrow line between universal ramp and archetype payoff by asking one behavioral question every turn, and answering it honestly is the only way to see the upside.
