Pillar Launch

InstantGreen mana

Combat tricks that pump and grant reach are a familiar template; this one hides a second card inside the first by untapping its target, and that clause is what moves it off the beaten combat-trick path. Slot the +2/+2 and reach into the picture and the spell reads like ordinary combat math: a grounded body catches a flier, a favorable trade gets pushed. But because it untaps, the natural time to cast it is your opponent's declare-attackers step, where a creature that already swung or tapped for mana snaps back upright as a fresh blocker two sizes larger. It plays like a Falter run backward, punishing an attack the opponent thought was clean by producing a defender out of a board they had already tallied as tapped down. The reach rider is not decorative: it means the ambush lands specifically against the evasive threats a ground-based deck usually cannot touch, sealing the one hole a plain untap-and-pump would leave open. For a single green mana, the only demand is that the caster hold up the window and read the combat step honestly, which is exactly where the card operates: most of its work happens after the opponent has already committed to a line they cannot take back.
