Picklock Prankster // Free the Fae

Creature — Faerie Rogue // Instant — Adventure1 generic manaBlue mana1 generic manaBlue mana

Cast the spell half early and the mill four is not aimed at an opponent: it is a self-mill dig that filters an instant, sorcery, or Faerie straight to hand, with the leftovers seeding your own graveyard for later. The narrow retrieval clause is the balancing lever: you are not guaranteed the specific card you want, only guaranteed a spell of the right type if one turns up, so the effect rewards a deck built dense with cheap instants and sorceries rather than a grab-bag. Then the Faerie itself comes back around later as a 1/3 flyer with vigilance, a body that blocks, attacks, and holds up mana on the same turn without choosing between them. That two-for-one cadence (a cantrip-adjacent dig now, an evasive attacker later, both out of one card) is the appeal of the Adventure treatment applied to a color that likes to spend early turns setting up. The vigilance is the detail that makes the creature half matter beyond chip damage: it lets a tempo shell present a clock and keep a blocker back while the graveyard it filled earlier does work. A modest card on either face, joined into something that asks a self-mill-and-recur build to use both halves at the right moment.
