Pia's Revolution

Enchantment2 generic manaRed mana

The whole engine here is that the choice belongs to your opponent, not you. Most recursion simply hands back what dies; this one returns your artifact to hand by default, and the opponent's only way to deny that recursion is to eat three damage. Every artifact death becomes a question they have to keep answering: let the card come back, or take the burn to keep it in the graveyard. Throw one artifact under the bus and they choose between three damage and letting you reload. Throw twelve and both branches start hurting. This wants a deck that treats cheap artifacts as ammunition: sacrifice outlets, free artifacts, anything that dies on demand and refuses to stay dead unless the opponent pays the toll. The nontoken clause is the boundary of the whole engine: tokens genuinely do reach the graveyard and set off death triggers, but the trigger is written to skip them outright, so a token going to the yard never presents the opponent with a decision at all. Only real cards, the ones with an object to return to hand, keep both sides of the dilemma live. The damage clause is what turns this into pressure rather than pure grind: against a low life total the opponent's "free" denial stops being free, and a pressured player eventually has to start letting cards return rather than burn themselves out refusing you. It is one of red's clearest experiments in offloading a decision onto the other player and taxing both answers.
