Combat is the faucet, the end step is the drain, and the whole engine runs on a resource that otherwise sits inert. Artifact creatures connecting with a player fill the reservoir; the end-step payment converts whatever has pooled into a single flying token scaled to the exact energy spent. The wrinkle is that the Vehicle it builds is not just a body but a fresh attacker for the following turn, so each swing feeds the next one larger, and the tokens themselves are artifact creatures once crewed, which means they qualify to generate energy in turn. The engine wants to be primed rather than dumped: banking energy across several turns and cashing it for one enormous Nalaar Aetherjet reads better on paper than spending two at a time, but the token only exists while it survives, so the timing question is real every end step. That crew 2 requirement is the honest cost, tethering the payoff to a board that can actually staff its own creations. The three-color identity signals the build clearly enough: this wants an artifact-creature shell wide enough to trigger the fill reliably and deep enough that losing a Vehicle to removal does not empty the whole account.
