Persistent Specimen

Creature — SkeletonBlack mana

Recursion priced as a service. The body is deliberately negligible: a 1/1 that dies to anything and blocks almost nothing, sold for a single black mana. What you are actually buying is a graveyard resource that refuses to stay dead, returning tapped for three mana as many times as you can pay the same flat cost. That endless reusability is the point. A creature that comes back on command is a token generator with no upkeep and no ceiling, and every deck that eats its own creatures wants exactly that: fixed fodder for sacrifice outlets, a body to feed a death-trigger engine, a chump blocker you can rebuy the turn after it trades. The tapped clause is the restraint on the loop. It cannot come back and immediately block or attack, so each return is a resource banked for the following turn rather than an instant answer, which keeps the reanimation from doubling as free tempo. Because the recursion cost never rises, the specimen is a slow, dependable pump you tap into across a whole game rather than a spike you burn once. This is the skeleton's oldest promise (creatures that regenerate or reassemble themselves have been a black staple for decades), refitted for a modern sacrifice shell where the payoff is not survival but repetition.
