Perilous Myr

A two-mana 1/1 that nobody actually wants to keep alive: the body is a delivery mechanism, and the death trigger is the payload. The trick is that it fires no matter how the creature dies, which collapses the usual asymmetry between trading in combat and being removed. Block a bigger attacker and the chump becomes two damage to its controller's face; sacrifice it to an outlet and the same two damage lands wherever you need it; let an opponent kill it and they have spent a card to hand you removal. Aggression turns the math against the attacker: every point of effort spent answering the Myr funds a retaliatory bolt that the defender chooses the target for. That is the design appeal of the whole free-damage-on-death family, but the colorless cost is what makes this one quietly load-bearing, since it slots into decks that have no access to red burn and still want a recurring two-point ping. Pair it with a way to reanimate or repeatedly sacrifice it and the one-shot becomes an engine, the 1/1 frame mattering only insofar as it dies cheaply and often. The card asks almost nothing of you on the way in and pays out on the way out, which is the inverted value curve a lot of artifact-driven and aristocrats-style strategies are built to exploit.
