Perilous Forays

Enchantment3 generic manaGreen manaGreen mana

Each activation trades a creature and a single generic mana for a basic-typed land onto the battlefield tapped, and that exchange is the entire premise. This is not ramp in the conventional sense: a mana value of five and a per-activation creature cost mean it never pays for itself as fixing alone. It is a sacrifice outlet that happens to fetch land, which is a stranger and more flexible thing. The "basic land type" clause does the heavy lifting, because it reaches dual lands and shocklands and anything else carrying Forest, Island, or the rest in its type line, so a board of expendable creatures becomes a toolbox for assembling exactly the colors a deck wants. Where it earns its keep is in shells already built to abuse death triggers or landfall, where the creature you feed it is value going in and the land that arrives is value coming out, and the loop runs as long as your hand keeps supplying bodies. Because the sacrifice is repeatable and untargeted (no death-trigger requirement, no restriction on what you offer up), it functions as an engine rather than a one-shot effect, priced and gated so you cannot chain it into something degenerate without a plan to refill the board. The friction is deliberate, and the decks that want it are the ones that read "sacrifice a creature" as an upside instead of a cost.
