Patriot, Shield Wielder

Legendary Creature — Human Hero1 generic manaWhite mana

The activated ability draws a familiar line: pay two and tap, hand another creature a temporary shove and a bubble of protection. What sets this apart from the usual pump-and-guard is the repeatable hexproof grant, timed at instant speed off the tap. That window is the whole appeal. Hold up the mana, let an opponent commit a removal spell to your key attacker, then answer on the stack by making that creature untargetable. The +2/+0 rider matters less as a clock than as a reason to activate proactively during combat, but it is the hexproof that turns a 2/2 body into a repeatable insurance policy for whatever it is protecting. The catch is spelled into the cost structure: the ability targets another creature, never itself, and it eats two mana plus a tap every time, so the shield only guards while you are not spending that mana elsewhere. A defensive engine that must sit still to work is a real tension, and it keeps the card honest against the version of protection that simply stapled hexproof to a cheap body. This is protection you have to earn each turn, at a rate an opponent can play around by baiting the activation before the removal that matters.
