Parapet Watchers

Creature — Kithkin Soldier2 generic manaBlue mana

A repeatable toughness pump is a strange thing to staple to a 2/2: this is a creature designed to never trade and never threaten, just survive. Pour mana into the White or Blue mana activation and the toughness climbs as high as your turn allows, turning a fragile body into a wall that blanks small attackers and outlasts combat math, while contributing nothing to a clock of its own. The defensive-only blueprint is deliberate; this is roadblock material for a deck that wants the game to grind, not race.

The cost is where the design earns its place. Because the activation can be paid with white or blue, a creature whose printed cost carries no white at all still answers to white's color identity for anyone producing either color, and the same card plays differently depending on which half of the spectrum a deck leans toward. It belongs to an era's experiment in color-bleed, where hybrid symbols let designers price a single effect to two colors at once and let one card sit comfortably in mono-blue while functioning as a white-leaning roadblock. The dissolving of the usual boundary between two colors happens at the activation level, not the casting cost, which is the subtler and more interesting half of the trick.
