Enchantment1 generic manaWhite mana

A defensive anthem with a vintage rules wrinkle bolted to it. The body is plain: a flat +0/+1 to your creatures for two mana, the kind of static toughness boost that keeps a wall of small blockers alive through one more combat step or shrugs off the X/1 sweepers of its era. The interest is in the timing clause wrapped around that anthem. The oracle text lets you cast the enchantment as though it had flash, but if you do so when a sorcery could not have been cast, you sacrifice it at the next cleanup step. That sacrifice is not part of the flash keyword (flash only grants instant-speed timing): it is a clause specific to this card's own templating, shared across its Mirage-block cousins. The effect is a deliberate fork in the casting decision. Play it on your own main phase and it sticks as a permanent anthem. Flash it in on an opponent's turn to fix a combat-math problem and it evaporates at cleanup, a one-shot trick rather than a board fixture. There is no alternative cost to buy permanence after the fact; you commit to surprise or to durability the moment you cast. As white defensive technology the rate was never the draw. What makes the card worth reading is how it documents an early experiment in conditional timing, an enchantment that asks you to trade permanence for ambush at the point of casting.

You may cast this spell as though it had flash. If you cast it any time a sorcery couldn't have been cast, the controller of the permanent it becomes sacrifices it at the beginning of the next cleanup step. Creatures you control get +0/+1.
