Parallax Tide
The genius and the trap of this design both live in its dying breath. Fading turns the enchantment into a five-shot land-exile gun: spend a counter to strip a land, and the clock ticks down on its own whether you fire it or not. That self-immolating timer is the whole point. The lands you exile do not vanish forever; they all snap back the instant the enchantment dies. So the question the card poses is not "how much can I exile?" but "what do I do before the bill comes due?" The answer eventually found was to never let it come due at all: remove the Tide in response to its own activations, so the lands are exiled but never returned, or sacrifice it on your own terms to time the return. Played fairly it is a stalling tool, a turn-by-turn tax on an opponent's mana that resets the moment you slip up. Built around, it became a combo engine, the exile-then-blink trick that empties multiple players' lands into permanent oblivion. The whole design is fading working exactly as intended: hand a powerful effect a built-in expiry, then dare players to engineer around the expiry. The reward for solving the puzzle is total, an opponent with no lands and no way to get them back.
