Paradise Plume

Two old design ideas welded into one artifact: the single-color mana rock and the "watcher" lifegain rider that keys off a chosen color on the stack. The charm half descends from the color-hosed lifegain artifacts, Angel's Feather and its kin, that gave you a point of life whenever any player cast a spell of the artifact's named color. Here that trigger is grafted onto a fixing source instead of standing alone, but the structural quirk survives: the gain fires on cast, not on resolution, so even a countered or fizzled spell still pays you. The mana side is the honest half of the bargain. It enters untapped and produces its color the turn it lands, doing the actual work most rocks are bought for: turning a four-cost slot into a fixed, repeatable source of one color. The lifegain almost never moves a game. One point per chosen-color spell is a rounding error against any real clock, and because the color is locked as the artifact enters, you cannot steer the watcher toward whatever an opponent happens to be casting; you commit to one color and accrue from there. That locked choice is the tell. This is incremental utility built for tables where many players cast many spells across many turns, slow symmetrical accrual that reads as generous and resolves as marginal. The fixing carries the card; the rider is flavor with a number attached.
