The redirection here runs deeper than any single damage prevention spell, because it doesn't prevent anything: it relocates the entire flow of incoming damage onto one body and dares it to survive. A 2/7 wall that absorbs every burn spell, every attacker, every direct hit to your other permanents and to you personally, until the seventh point arrives and the whole umbrella collapses at once. That is the tension the design lives inside. Most damage-shielding effects in white are surgical (a single combat step, a single creature, a fog), but this one is total and indiscriminate, which means it protects your planeswalkers and your own life total simultaneously while making itself the only legal recipient of harm. The catch is the same thing that makes it strong: concentrate all the damage onto one toughness pool and a board-wide alpha strike that you would have survived spread across five blockers now kills a single Giant, and the protection evaporates the instant it dies. It also does nothing against effects that don't deal damage, so the wall that laughs at an army folds to a single edict or a destroy spell. The design rewards a deck that can keep the body alive and threatens to give that deck near-total immunity from the most common form of interaction in the game, which is exactly why the toughness sits at seven and not higher.
