Palace Sentinels

Creature — Human Soldier3 generic manaWhite mana

The cleanest entry point into a table-wide subgame ever bolted onto a four-of. The monarch rules are deceptively simple: the monarch draws an extra card at end of turn, and anyone who deals combat damage to the monarch steals the crown. That turns a passive card-advantage engine into a contested resource, a flag on a hill the whole table is incentivized to fight over. What this design does is graft that engine onto a defensive 2/4: a creature too small to threaten anyone but tough enough to survive most early aggression, which is exactly the profile you want from a card whose real job is to keep you on the throne for one more draw step. The toughness is the load-bearing stat, not the power; a monarch-maker that died to a stray attacker would surrender both the crown and the tempo in one swing. Because the trigger fires on entry rather than on an attack or an upkeep, you crown yourself the instant it resolves and start drawing immediately, with no ramp-up window for opponents to preempt. It became the default white monarch enabler precisely because it asks for nothing in return: no build-around, no sacrifice, no payoff package. Play it, take the crown, draw the extra card, and let everyone else decide whether the beating is worth it.
