Overwhelming Encounter
The dice roll here is doing something quieter than it looks: the payoff never craters. Where most d20 designs pair a jackpot ceiling with a whiff floor, this one hands out +2/+2 to your whole board on a 1 through 9, a floor that would be a perfectly playable overrun on its own. The 10 through 19 band swaps that temporary pump for two permanent +1/+1 counters on each creature, and the natural 20 doubles those to four. What changes across the outcomes is not whether you win the swing but how much of the board stays grown after the turn ends. The vigilance and trample rider is the part that actually decides games: it lets an alpha strike keep back no attackers and pushes damage past chump blockers regardless of which roll you hit. A guaranteed overrun with an upside dial that tilts toward permanence puts this well past a plain team pump, where the roll would otherwise be all downside. The variance lives in the reward rather than in the relevance, so the card never becomes a dead draw off a bad roll.
