Overlaid Terrain

Enchantment2 generic manaGreen manaGreen mana

Most green ramp of its era added a land or untapped one already in play; this one runs the math in reverse, asking you to detonate your entire manabase on resolution and then doubling whatever you rebuild afterward. The sacrifice clause is the engine's ignition, not a balancing afterthought: you are meant to cast it with almost no lands committed, or with a recursion plan ready to fire, so the doubling applies to a board you assemble next rather than the one you just torched. That sequencing puzzle is what earned it a reputation as a combo enabler, a piece that wants a fistful of lands waiting in hand. The doubling is also color-locked: each land taps for two mana of any one color, chosen per activation, so the output is monocolored bursts rather than rainbow fixing. The effect reads closer to a ritual than to a mana rock, a green accelerant that costs you everything you had before it pays anything back, which is why it has lived its life as a combo curiosity rather than a fair-deck staple. The price of entry is the manabase itself, and only a deck built to refill it gets to see the multiplier.
