Green's fight spells have always carried a structural liability: your creature takes the return damage, so trading up in power means putting your own board on the line to remove theirs. This one buys its way partway out of that math. The +1/+1 counter lands before the fight resolves, so the pump and the combat happen in one motion, and a marginal attacker becomes a viable brawler at the exact moment it matters, without needing an earlier investment in the body. The adamant clause is the real escalation, and it reads as a color-cost gate rather than a mana-value gate. Spend three green pips and your creature emerges from the fight indestructible, converting a mutual exchange into a one-sided one: it survives the return damage regardless of the numbers, counter still attached. What indestructible does not do is guarantee the kill. It keeps your creature alive; it does not lend it deathtouch, so the target only dies if your now-buffed creature carries enough power to finish it. You are still playing the size game, not skipping it; what changes is that you no longer have to survive the game you win. The old friction is the reciprocity of combat itself: green loves killing things through the red zone and hates the damage that comes back the other way. Pay enough green and that reciprocity simply stops applying to your side of the fight.
