The 3/1 body is the entire bargain here. Battalion was built to reward the go-wide aggressive plan, and this Minotaur sits exactly where the mechanic's tension lives: a creature too fragile to trade in normal combat, made lethal the moment three attackers commit together. Double strike on a 3/1 is six damage swinging in, and against an open board it forces a defender to either chump or eat the full hit, but the same toughness that makes the payoff loud also means a single point of incidental damage erases the card before it ever connects. That fragility keeps the conditional honest: you do not get the double strike for free, you pay for it by exposing a body that any removal spell or roadblock answers cleanly. The design encodes the aggressor's gamble directly into the stat line, asking you to overcommit to the attack to unlock the reward, then punishing you if the alpha strike stalls. All-or-nothing red-white aggro on a card: genuinely threatening when the board state breaks its way, a do-nothing 3/1 when it does not.
