Orcish Librarian

Red rarely gets to touch its own library, and when it does the cost is almost always a permanent one: this is card selection that fixes your next several draws at the price of literally exiling half of what it sees. You look at the top eight, but four of them vanish at random before you ever choose, so the card you wanted may be among the casualties before you get to sort the survivors. The smoothing is real (digging toward a key spell, stacking the top in your preferred order), and the random exile is the structural tax it pays for being repeatable filtration in a color that is not supposed to have it. It demands a deck deep enough to survive the collateral damage, the kind of build where losing four cards is acceptable because the four that remain are interchangeable enough that you care only about ordering, not preserving. The orc fits the bit exactly: a librarian who organizes by burning half the stacks. Decades of red filtering since have leaned on impulsive exile and rummaging, smoother and more forgiving than this, but few designs commit so hard to the premise that red's idea of research is gambling with your own deck and accepting the losses as the price of looking.
