Oona's Grace

Instant2 generic manaBlue mana

The most plodding draw spell ever printed, and the one that never quite runs dry. Two-and-a-blue for a single card is a rate no deck would touch on its own; the entire case lives in retrace, which lets you recast the spell from the graveyard by pitching a land from hand. That turns the dead weight of a flooded grip into action: every excess land you draw becomes a future card, and the worse your draws go, the more fuel the engine accumulates. It is less a spell than a mana sink with a discard cost attached, a way to launder surplus territory into raw cardflow turn after turn. Retrace as a mechanic asks you to stop treating lands as a resource that strictly dries up and start treating them as something you can convert back into spells, and this is the purest test of the idea, because the only thing it does is trade one land for one card. The discard cost is also the governor that keeps it from becoming a true loop: each activation burns a physical land from hand, so it runs only as long as your draws keep replenishing the supply. The natural home is a deck that wants to grind toward an empty library, where converting excess land into cards, slowly and inexorably, is itself the plan rather than a detour from it.
