Ondu Inversion // Ondu Skyruins

Sorcery // Land

Board wipes have always suffered from a timing problem: they sit inert in your hand when you have nothing to sweep, or when the board is already yours, and every dead draw costs you a full card. The back face here is the answer. When the reset is the wrong play, the eight-mana sweeper becomes a white-producing land that enters tapped, so the worst case is a fixing source rather than a stranded spell. That safety net comes at a punishing ceiling. Eight mana for Destroy all nonland permanents is far above the going rate for a sweeper, and the effect swings wider than most, clearing artifacts, enchantments, and planeswalkers alongside the creatures. What the price buys is not the reset button but the assurance that a card in hand always does something, even if that something is just mana. Earlier double-faced lands split a modest spell against a basic-like land; this cycle pushed the format to its limit, stapling one of the most expensive board wipes in the game to a land whose only failure mode is entering tapped a turn late. The tension is between a sweeper too costly to cast on curve and a land you can always slot into a manabase, and the card refuses to make you choose one at the expense of the other.
