Most green creatures that fetch a basic when they arrive are smoothing pieces with bodies you tolerate rather than want: fragile dorks whose entire value is front-loaded into the search trigger. The 2/4 here changes the math. That toughness sits on the right side of most early combat, blocking aggressive two- and three-drops cleanly and surviving, so the ramp does not come stapled to a creature that becomes a liability the moment combat starts. The land enters tapped, which keeps the acceleration honest by withholding the mana until a later turn, and the search is restricted to basics, so it advances your land count and fixes colors without tutoring anything sharper. What you end up with is a defensive ramp piece that ramps, then keeps standing in the way: a green common doing the unglamorous work green commons were built to do, with just enough rear toughness to make the trade unattractive for the attacker.
