The enchantment sits in play converting each draw into a foreshadow counter, and once eight have accrued it starts producing 8/8 Krakens as a repeatable engine rather than a one-shot. The design works because it never asks you to change your gameplan: it taxes no mana, occupies no combat step, and rewards the draw-two spells and card-advantage engines a blue deck runs regardless. The build's discipline is patience, since eight counters is a real clock and the enchantment does nothing to the board until you reach it. Cycling resolves the one weakness that would otherwise sink a card this slow: an enchantment that only turns on in a grindy, draw-heavy game is dead weight in a game that never becomes one, so when the Kraken plan is too slow you can discard it and draw fresh instead. That optionality justifies the slot; you are never fully punished for drawing it, only occasionally rewarded enormously. What makes the execution clean is the honesty of the meter: no built-in card draw of its own, no shortcut counters, just a gauge that fills exactly as fast as your deck was ever going to fill it, turning incidental card advantage into a win condition without ever pretending the two were separate.
