Trolls have shrugged off death since the earliest sets, and this 1/1 carries that tradition into the cheapest possible package: a one-drop you can cast for a single black or a single green, with a regeneration sink that drinks either color too. The flexibility runs all the way through the design. The casting cost is identical whether your lands are all swamps or all forests, the troll registers as both black and green wherever color identity or tribe matters, and the regeneration shield never cares which mana you happen to be holding. That elasticity is the whole pitch: a body that asks almost nothing of a manabase and slots into any deck touching black or green, holding a mana sink for the turns after your hand empties. The cost of all that reach is paid in raw power. A 1/1 demands no answer, so the regeneration is busy guarding a threat opponents are rarely in a hurry to remove. The interesting tension is that the protection clause, the part that makes the card feel resilient, is bolted to a creature few decks were ever afraid of in the first place. What survives every combat and every destruction-based removal spell is still just a one-power troll, and the appeal lives almost entirely in how little it costs to keep on the table.
