Obscura Initiate
The hybrid pip in the activation cost is the tell: a common built to advertise a three-color faction's identity by wearing two of its three colors on its sleeve. The card casts from a blue base, but the it wants for lifelink points sideways at both partner colors, so the creature reads as a mission statement for the whole triad without demanding every mana source cooperate at once. As a body, it is a plain evasive 2/2, a slow clock that mostly matters as a repeatable life engine: two mana converts each point of combat damage into life gain, re-bought every turn rather than granted permanently. Because the ability activates at instant speed, the temporary framing is a feature, not a tax. You never need to pre-commit: swing in and wait to see whether a block materializes before spending the mana, or hold the creature back and add lifelink only after blockers are declared, so it turns a favorable block into a life swing without risking a wasted activation. That flexibility is the point of pricing lifelink as a repeatable cost instead of stapling it to the body. This is a workmanlike role-player whose whole purpose is teaching a color pairing by embedding it in the activation cost, the kind of common that carries an idea more than it carries a game.
