Oath of Ghouls

A symmetry card with the comeback governor pointed the other way from how it reads. The targeting clause fires only when the active player can name an opponent whose graveyard holds fewer creatures than their own, which means recursion goes to whoever has buried the most bodies. That conditional is the whole design discipline: it turns what could be a flat value enchantment into a runaway engine that rewards the player who has been trading creatures most aggressively. Fill your own graveyard faster than the table fills theirs, and the Oath keeps handing your dead back, one per qualifying upkeep. It belongs to the Exodus Oath cycle, a run of two-mana enchantments that each trigger on every player's upkeep and key off some asymmetry in resources between players. Oath of Druids is the famous one, the engine that built a control archetype around having fewer creatures on the battlefield than an opponent; Oath of Ghouls is its quieter graveyard-flavored sibling, returning bodies to hand rather than cheating them onto the battlefield. The friction is real and self-correcting: every return shrinks the gap that powers the next one, since reclaiming a creature pulls it out of your graveyard and toward parity. That makes it a grinding, slow recursion piece rather than a fast loop, the speed its upkeep cadence and once-per-turn ceiling were built to enforce.
