Pay two life and you have graveyard recursion that costs no mana and demands no green source, which is the design choice that turns a modest effect into a combo enabler. The retrieval itself is deliberately humble: it does not return a card to hand or to the battlefield, it just sets up your next draw, so the card depends entirely on what you draw it with. Paired with any card-draw effect, "put it on top" becomes "draw it this turn," and the instant-speed window keeps the loop honest: the moment a spell finishes resolving and the card lands in the yard, you can lift it back before the turn moves on, undoing a discard or a sacrifice the instant it completes. The most quietly important word is in the target line, which reads "from a graveyard," not "from your graveyard." Because the retrieved card goes on top of its owner's library, you cannot steal an opponent's spell for yourself, but you can rebury their flashback card or a graveyard payoff on top of their deck, costing them a draw step and stranding their recursion. So it bends two directions: a free top-off for your own engine, or a tax on someone else's graveyard plan, at a price most decks can pay without ever spending a mana.
