Noggle Hedge-Mage
The hybrid pip lets either an Izzet deck or a mono-colored one play this 2/2, but the entry triggers gate their payoffs on something the mana symbol never measures: how many Islands and Mountains you actually control. Both abilities use an intervening "if" clause, which the rules check twice: once as the creature enters, to decide whether the ability triggers at all, and again on resolution, to decide whether it does anything. Splash the hybrid mana off a single Mountain and you get a plain 2/2; the condition fails the first check, so nothing ever goes on the stack. The structure rewards land-type density rather than the colors of mana you paid. Control two or more Islands and you tap two permanents, a tempo lever that reads as removal-adjacent against a board that has already committed. Control two or more Mountains and you point two damage at a player or planeswalker, reach the body alone would never carry. Hit both thresholds and the creature lands as a tempo swing and a burn spell at once. Neither half is overwhelming, which is exactly the calibration of an uncommon-rarity reward for committing to a guild's basic types rather than dabbling at its edge. The distance between the bare floor and the doubled ceiling is the whole lesson of the cycle this belongs to: build deep into the named land types, and the payoff arrives twice over.
