Nissa's Expedition

A ramp spell that asks the board to pay for itself, which puts it at war with its own effect. Search up two basics and drop them onto the battlefield tapped: that is a payoff a green ramp deck wants, but ramp decks rarely field the crowd of small bodies needed to discount the cost meaningfully. The decks that can tap four creatures to cast it for a song are wide creature decks, and those decks seldom want a five-mana double-land fetch in the first place. The two halves point in opposite directions, and closing that gap is the entire deckbuilding puzzle. The convoke discount only earns its keep in a green build that is both creature-dense and genuinely hungry for lands: a heavy-splash or high-land-count strategy where bodies and basics are equally abundant, and tapping down a couple of dorks turns a clunky mid-curve ramp piece into something closer to a free shuffle of fixing onto the battlefield. The tapped clause keeps the whole thing from tipping into a same-turn mana burst; the lands come in dormant, so you are trading toward next turn's spells, not this turn's. It is a fixing tool disguised as acceleration, and the disguise is exactly why it sits in an awkward middle: too slow for the ramp shells, too situational for the creature shells, and best in the rare deck that is honestly both.
