Shroud on a one-mana creature reads as a tax until you account for what it deletes from the opponent's deck: targeted burn, Doom Blade, and every other point of spot removal turns into a dead card against it. That untargetability made this little body a control player's headache, because the cleanest answer to a 1/1 that grows into a 3/3 is precisely the one-for-one removal it shrugs off. Threshold supplies the growth, and the synergy with the body runs tighter than the rate suggests: the same disruptive spells that fill your yard (cantrips, discard, fetch effects, anything self-milling) convert the creature into a clock that spot removal can't erase. Instead of flooding the board, you keep a count, attacking with a single threat protected not by countermagic but by the printed inability to be touched. It became the archetypal threat for graveyard-fueled green-blue tempo: cheap, evasive in the sense that it dodges interaction rather than blockers, and self-sufficient once the graveyard crosses seven. The wrinkle worth respecting is that shroud cuts both ways; you cannot pump it, equip it, or rescue it from a wrath with a targeted spell of your own. It is a creature you commit to and let the graveyard finish.
