Kinship was the era's experiment in rewarding tribal density without demanding it outright, and this is the drain member of that cycle: a hook that converts a deck full of shared creature types into recurring upkeep damage. The trigger's optionality is where the design lives. Each upkeep you may peek at your next draw, and if it matches a creature type this card carries (Faerie or Wizard, both deep tribes), you choose whether to reveal it for two life off each opponent. The reveal costs you nothing material, since you draw that card in your draw step regardless. What it spends is information: showing the table what you are about to draw is a real tell against players who track your hand. The kinship check is itself a probabilistic tax on consistency. The more Faeries and Wizards you run, the likelier each upkeep pays out, so the card quietly pulls deckbuilding toward a focused tribe rather than a midrange grab-bag. The 3/2 flyer is incidental to the engine, an evasive clock that ticks while the upkeep trigger grinds. What dates it is the multiplayer math: two life per opponent scales with the player count, making it far sharper across a pod than across a single foe. As mechanical history it stands with the rest of kinship as a study in how to gate a payoff behind a creature-type check without forcing the whole deck into a tribal monoculture.
