The counter here is a replacement effect, not a combat trigger or a re-fireable enters-the-battlefield ability. It is decided once, at entry, by whether any permanent has left your side of the board earlier in the turn; sequence it correctly and the bonus sticks. Recast this creature on a later turn with no permanent lost, and it enters as a plain 2/2, because the counter is printed once at entry rather than carried as a property of the card. What sets revolt apart from the morbid designs that came before it is the breadth of what counts: a creature dying, a land sacrificed, an artifact hitting the yard, even a permanent bounced to your own hand all satisfy it. The condition never asks how the permanent left, only that one did under your control, folding the whole attrition-fueled black toolkit into a single yes-or-no check. The body is deliberately modest, evasive but small; the reward is calibrated to be worth chasing in a shell tuned to feed it, not a freebie for one that is not.
