Hand attack as a clock. The front face is a slow tax: tap, force a discard, and the moment your opponent runs empty the Rat flips. Discard-per-turn effects had always struggled to close, because stripping a hand is attrition, not lethal, and a single topdeck refills the problem. Stabwhisker the Odious answers that by converting the empty hand into a recurring drain that scales with how starved the opponent stays: every upkeep they sit below three cards, they bleed, and an empty-handed opponent loses three life a turn before they even draw. The activation carries no timing restriction, so the discard can land on the opponent's draw step, taking the card they just drew before they can play it. Note that the flip is one-way and the text box does not carry over: once Stabwhisker is online, the discard engine is gone, and the punisher works on its own terms. From there the squeeze inverts the opponent's incentives. They want to hold cards to keep the back face quiet, but every card they commit to the board drops them below three and back into the bleed, so refusing to develop costs them tempo while developing costs them life. The empty-handed grind is exactly where the back face is at its most lethal: in a topdeck war, the opponent is never refilling fast enough to climb back above three. A clean expression of the era's flip mechanic, a modest creature that earns its transformation by doing the precise thing that arms the second face.
