The historic batch (artifacts, legendaries, and Sagas) gets turned into an environmental engine here, and the elegance is in how neatly the plane's two triggers feed each other. The attack pump is deliberately narrow: it fires only for historic creatures, which means it wants a board already tilted toward artifact bodies, legendary threats, and Saga-adjacent value rather than a generic go-wide swarm. That constraint is what the chaos trigger answers. Rather than hand you a flat draw, the planar die digs until it reveals a historic card and puts it in hand, so the plane refuels you with exactly the resource its combat bonus rewards. Note that the dig finds any historic card, not just permanents: a legendary instant or sorcery counts, so the loop tolerates a spell-heavy historic build as well as a creature-dense one. The result is a closed circuit: field historic, swing for the bonus, roll chaos to restock. Planes as a format element tend to be either color-agnostic goodstuff or generic tempo swings; this one instead reads as a themed reward that presumes a specific kind of deck at the table and sharpens it. The design lineage is the artifact-and-legendary-matters throughline that Dominaria's mechanics have circled repeatedly, expressed here as terrain rather than a permanent in the deck. Every player planeswalks onto the same plane, but only the historic-heavy pilot fully cashes it in.
