A vanilla 3/3 for three mana is the most fixed point in green's whole curve: it is the benchmark every other green three-drop is measured against, the rate that tells designers exactly how much a creature's keyword or ability is worth. Grizzly Bears set the two-drop yardstick; this is its bigger sibling, the body that says "three power, three toughness, no text, three mana" and nothing more. Its only quirk is contextual, not mechanical: it debuted in a set built almost entirely around mechanics that had never existed before, the closest thing that set printed to a card with no idea on it at all. That deliberate plainness is its own kind of statement, a control against which the rest of the cards in that release could be read. Stripped of context, it is the green pedagogy card: a creature that exists to demonstrate the curve rather than to do anything clever within it.
