Hate-bear math distilled to its simplest form: a hard wall against one color, bolted onto an efficient two-drop body. Protection from blue does four things at once once this resolves (it cannot be blocked by blue creatures, cannot be targeted by blue spells, takes no damage from blue sources, and shrugs off blue Auras and Equipment), so against a control deck leaning on bounce and chump-blocking flyers, the body becomes nearly unkillable in combat and untouchable by blue removal on the battlefield. The protection does nothing while the creature is still on the stack, though: before it resolves, a blue counterspell or a targeted blue spell handles it like any other two-drop, which is exactly the window a control deck wants to answer it in. The whole bet sits in that color hosing. Against anything not playing blue, you have an unremarkable beater and the protection line reads as blank: the deliberate cost of a protection creature, the same trade the old Order of the White Shield made decades earlier. What separates this one is the aggressive color pair carrying it; red-green is the archetype least equipped to fight a slow blue deck on the spell-versus-spell axis, so handing it a creature that ignores the blue toolbox once it sticks covers the matchup the colors otherwise lose. It is anti-blue insurance, valuable in exact proportion to how much blue is across the table and inert the rest of the time.
