Eight mana for a team-wide overrun is the entire pitch here, and it is priced to be a board you construct toward rather than a single decisive shot. The +2/+0 is the loud number, but menace is the part carrying the design. A raw pump alone dies to one fat blocker parked in front of your best attacker; forcing two blockers per creature is how a wide board slips its damage past a narrow defense, which is exactly what the ancient overrun archetype always wanted to do. What separates this from that lineage is repeatability: because the cost is mana instead of a card, the effect comes back every turn you can foot the bill, so it stops being a finisher you hope to draw and becomes a standing threat that reads "lethal is one big turn away" as long as it stays on the battlefield. The modest 2/3 body up front is doing quiet accounting work, asking you to commit to the board before you have the mana to make the ability matter. Nothing about the creature itself wants your attention; the invoker is a mana sink you sit behind, holding the payoff until the moment your team can convert it.
