Mycosynth Wellspring

A two-mana artifact that fetches a basic land twice over: once on entry, once on its way to the graveyard from the battlefield. That second trigger is the design's whole reason for existing. The enters clause hands you immediate fixing, and the leaves clause rewards exactly the moment most cheap artifacts stop pulling weight: when they get blown up by destruction or fed to a sacrifice outlet. The wording is precise, though. The second search fires only on being put into a graveyard, so it is generous to removal and self-sacrifice but offers nothing against exile or bounce, which lift the permanent without ever sending it to the bin. The catch that keeps it short of free card advantage is that it only finds basics and only puts them into hand, not onto the battlefield, so it smooths a manabase rather than ramping it. Where it earns a slot is in decks that want artifacts on the battlefield and in the graveyard for reasons of their own (metalcraft cares, affinity cares, aristocrat triggers care) and treat the land as a byproduct of having the body around. Read that way it is less a fixing spell than a self-replacing permanent: a cheap artifact for your artifact-matters synergies that refunds a card when it exits through the right door. The enters-or-dies template has aged gracefully precisely because half of it sidesteps the most permanent forms of interaction.
