Flash is the trick, and it turns a dinky body into instant-speed removal that also grows your board. Cast alone it counts itself and deals a single point, enough to snipe a mana dork or a one-toughness hatebear; drop it as the fifth or sixth Goblin, though, and it enters as an unannounced burn spell that can pick off a mid-sized attacker or chip a planeswalker while it stays behind to keep pressuring. The design fuses two goblin traditions that usually lived apart: the sacrificial pinger in the Mogg Fanatic line, which asked you to feed a body for a point of reach, and the flood-the-board aggression that Goblins as a tribe are built around. Here the damage scales with the swarm you already wanted to build, so removal and aggression share one card slot rather than competing for it. The flash clause is the reason it plays like a spell and not a static counter: it holds up as a combat surprise, ambushing a blocker at the moment an opponent commits, and it lets you deploy the count when it is largest instead of on your own main phase. The trade is fragility. It arrives as a 1/1, so the value is front-loaded into the entry trigger, and a swept board leaves you holding a card whose payload has already shrunk to a single point.
