Mudbutton Torchrunner

Creature — Goblin Warrior2 generic manaRed mana

A goblin priced as a fuse, not a body. The 1/1 is incidental: three damage to any target, delayed only by the cost of getting the creature dead. That delay is also the catch, since a 1/1 with no evasion and no immediate impact gives the opponent every reason to leave it alone and deny the trigger. Goblin decks answer that the way they always have, by stapling the death payoff to an engine that wants creatures dying anyway: sacrifice outlets, chump blocks, and the whole goblin habit of treating bodies as ammunition. In that frame the liability becomes a delivery system, a way to push burn around board states where a sorcery-speed removal spell would simply trade. The flexible target line is the part that ages well, since it can finish a planeswalker, clear a blocker, or aim straight at the opponent's life total depending on which the moment demands. The deeper design idea is older than the goblin shell around it: small-red creatures that convert their own deaths into damage, turning mortality from a cost into a resource. This is one of the cleaner statements of that trade, asking only that you control the timing of its end.
