Mowu, Loyal Companion
Counter multipliers usually arrive as static replacement effects on cards you build a whole board around: Doubling Season, Hardened Scales, the enrage-and-proliferate machinery of green counter decks. Mowu compresses that engine into a single 3/3 body that carries its own multiplier. The replacement is deliberately asymmetric, adding exactly one extra counter each time counters would land rather than doubling them, which means the payoff scales with how often you feed it rather than how many you dump at once. One counter becomes two; a proliferate trigger becomes an escalating tax on the opponent's patience. Vigilance and trample are the honest part of the package: a growing creature that neither has to choose between attacking and defending nor gets chump-blocked into irrelevance, so every counter you stack turns directly into damage that gets through. The multiplier only fires on counters put on Mowu itself, so this is not a board-wide combo piece but a self-contained threat that rewards a steady drip of small counter sources over a single explosive turn. It sits in a green tradition of legendary beaters that grow if left unanswered, a lineage that runs through the trample-and-counters school of design, but the plus-one wrinkle gives it a distinct math: the removal window shrinks every turn you get to trigger it.
