Monstrous Carabid

Creature — Insect3 generic manaBlack manaRed mana

A 4/4 for five that attacks every combat whether or not you want it to is, on its face, a body you would only run in the most committed aggressive shells: a creature that hands your opponent information about your turn and walks into open mana, chump blockers, or any spot where holding back would serve you better. What rescues it is the discard clause priced at a single black-or-red pip. Cashing the card in for a fresh draw stays live even in a deck stretched thin on its mana, which is the whole asymmetry: the printed cost commits you to both colors and a real combat drawback, but the escape hatch is deliberately cheap and color-flexible, so the card is almost never dead in hand. You get a forced attacker when you want to apply pressure and a near-free cantrip when the attack would only get you punished. It belongs to a long line of aggressive bodies stapled to cheap card-cycling, the school of design arguing that a creature's worst-case scenario should still replace itself. What sets this one apart is how tightly the two halves are wired together: the mandatory attack is precisely the situation the cycling cost is built to let you walk away from, the downside and the out living on the same card.
