Moment of Truth

Instant1 generic manaBlue mana

The graveyard is a resource, and this instant was built to load it while telling you exactly what it costs. A plain dig spell finds the best card and lets the rest slide back under the library; this one demands you sort the top three into three distinct fates: one goes to hand, one goes to the graveyard, one goes to the bottom. That forced binning is the entire design. Decks that treat the yard as a second hand (delve, reanimation, spell recursion, graveyard-count payoffs) draw their selection and their fuel from the same two-mana source, and at instant speed they can do it on the opponent's end step or in response to a shuffle effect. The tension this resolves is that most card selection either feeds the graveyard incidentally (looting, surveil) or filters cleanly without feeding it at all (impulse effects that exile the leftovers). This does both on purpose: you never bin something by accident, and you never fail to bin the thing you wanted in the yard. The cost is that you cannot keep two of the three. A hand of three live cards means genuinely surrendering one, so a greedy dig into a stacked top three can force you to throw away real value when the graveyard is not where you actually want it. It filters for decks that count their graveyard as carefully as their hand.
