Molten Slagheap

Land

Mana banking is the mechanism here, and the trade it offers is patience for fixing. Each storage counter costs a full mana to load, and you pay an extra mana to unload, so you are spending to defer mana into later turns when you can dump it all at once. That delay is the whole cost structure. A Wastes-style colorless tap is the fallback the day you draw it, but the design wants you to spend a few quiet early turns feeding the land, then unload a Rakdos-colored burst once you have a play the rest of your manabase cannot afford. The result is a fixer that doubles as a slow accumulator, smoothing the kind of awkward two-color curve where the expensive spell wants four or five of one color at once. The cycle this belongs to, one land per allied color pair, was an early experiment in storage as a fixing axis: not the ramp of doublers or the speed of duals, but a way to stockpile mana across turns and release it on demand. The friction is real and intentional. Every counter is mana you did not spend that turn, and an opponent who pressures you never lets you reach the payoff. It rewards the grindy, durdling decks that have the turns to spare, and punishes any plan that needs its lands working immediately.
