Redirection is the rarest verb in blue's instant-speed toolkit, and this permanent hands it to you on a body rather than a spell. Most counterplay against something on the stack is binary: you stop it or you let it resolve. Here the choice is finer. You flash in a 1/4 and reroute a single target of any spell or ability to this wizard instead, which means the burn aimed at your face buries itself in four toughness, the removal pointed at your bomb kills the Vedalken and nothing else, and an opponent's targeted ability gets pointed at a creature that may well shrug it off. The job is to convert a moment of board-targeting into a misfire, and the flash clause turns it from a telegraphed setup into a true interaction piece: you hold up three mana and wait for the trigger that matters. The 1/4 frame tells you how it wants to be deployed, not as a beater but as a wall that absorbs the spell it just bent, surviving most of what gets aimed at it. The narrow window (it changes one target, of one spell or ability, once on entry) is the price for an effect that, uncapped, would warp every targeted exchange in the game. It rewards reading the stack rather than the board.
