Mistbind Clique
Champion was a keyword that mostly read as a tax: exile a permanent you wanted on the board, get a temporary upgrade, surrender it if the new body dies. This card inverts the bargain by turning that exile trigger into a weapon. Flashed in during an opponent's upkeep and then championing a Faerie, it taps every land that player controls, functioning as a one-sided time-stall: a 4/4 flier sticks while the opponent loses the mana they were counting on for the turn. The lock does not stop responses; it works because mana pools empty between steps, so a player who failed to float mana or hold up instants ahead of time arrives at their main phase with nothing untapped. A Faerie shell makes the champion clause nearly free, since the body you exile is one you already wanted in play and it returns when the Clique leaves. That return is also the catch: bounce or kill the Clique and the championed Faerie comes back, so removal answering the body refunds your own permanent rather than ending the exchange cleanly. The result behaves less like a creature than like a counterspell that happens to leave a 4/4 behind, an aggressive tempo play that mortgages itself to its own keyword, which is what anchored it to Faerie tempo for as long as that deck existed.
