Misstep
The patient cousin of a Falter effect, and a sorcery besides. Where a combat trick reaches into the moment to clear blockers, this one reaches forward in time: it taps nothing, touches no creature already standing, and changes nothing about the board the instant it resolves. The payoff comes at the start of the targeted player's next turn, when whatever they had tapped (an attack, an activated ability, a tapped-out mana commitment) simply fails to come back up. The lock only matters insofar as the opponent has creatures already tapped going into their untap step, so the spell rewards casting it after they have spent their board, leaving them open for the swing that follows. That sequencing is the whole identity of the card: it is a delayed alpha-strike enabler for a deck with a clock already on the table, not a reactive surprise sprung mid-combat. The effect is also narrower than the wording first suggests; it constrains only that player's creatures, not their lands or their draws, so it is a tempo tool rather than a broad stax piece. A clean bit of blue combat interference from an era when the color was still permitted to muscle into the attack step directly, built around a window the caster has to read a turn ahead to land.
