Mirran Crusader

The math here is brutal and intentional. A 2/2 with double strike already swings for four, and protection from black and from green means the two colors most likely to carry the cheap kill spell and the fat blocker struggle to interact with it through targeted removal or combat. Black holds the Doom Blade tradition and its disruption suite; green holds the bodies that would otherwise eat a four-power attacker in combat. Against that slice of the field, this is a three-mana creature that is unblockable, immune to their best removal, and turns a 20-life game into a five-turn race the opponent can do little about. Double strike is what makes it disproportionately rewarding to equip: every point of power you bolt on counts twice, so a single Sword of Feast and Famine or even a modest anthem converts directly into a much faster clock. The restriction that pays for all of this is that the protection is fixed and narrow, and it only ever shields the Crusader itself: it does not tax the opponent's hand or board the way a true hatebear does. Against a white-blue control deck, against a mirror full of artifacts, against burn, the two halves of the design collapse into a plain 2/2 double striker on a fragile body that any white removal spell or direct damage answers cleanly. A precision threat: brutally efficient when pointed at black or green, and merely a fair beater everywhere else.
