Anthems that key off attacking (rather than a creature type or a controller clause) are a narrow slice of the catalog, and this is where that slice begins. The +1/+0 reads symmetrical but plays asymmetrical: whoever is swinging that turn collects the bonus, which in a mirror or a race tilts every combat math problem toward the aggressor. The rate is a relic of an era when Wizards priced artifacts as if their colorlessness were the dominant cost rather than their permanence; the effect is too small to matter for what it asks, and the any-deck availability that once justified the tag is now a baseline expectation, not a premium. What keeps it worth a second look is the design lineage. Pair it with Weakstone, its Antiquities sibling that shrinks attacking creatures, and the two compose a primitive combat-modification kit that Urza-flavor sets have referenced for decades; the pair was eventually reunited on a single card, The Mightstone and Weakstone, which melds into Urza. So the stone is less a playable anthem than a founding artifact in two lineages at once: the attacker-only combat boost, and the Urza-saga relics that later sets keep circling back to.
